Every DAY- in the UK, 250 people start to lose their sight. Today, there are more than two million people in the UK living with sight loss that is severe enough to have a significant impact on their daily lives, such as not being able to drive (RNIB, 2018). As a specialist clinic in Ophthalmology Acupuncture, we treat people with vision loss and understand the real impact and the real people behind these statistics Whilst there are some conventional medical options that can bring benefits, these can be associated with risks and side-effects. Acupuncture is a safe, natural and effective treatment for vision loss that works from the inside out and treats the whole body and mind together, which is fantastic for vision as the eye is a direct antenna of our Central Nervous System and brain.

Ophthalmic Acupuncture complements the conventional approaches and can manage side-effects as well as working to increase blood flow and oxygen supply to the eyes directly. Patients often report that other aspects of their health and wellbeing also improve.

Alison is an experienced Acupuncturist with many years of clinical practice in her full-time clinics (in Berkshire and now in Devon). She started researching how Acupuncture could help with vision problems for a family member and found Dr Andy Rosenfarb, a world-renowned and leading authority on Ophthalmology Acupuncture, based in New Jersey. Alison has studied extensively with Dr Rosenfarb, having completed a Foundation course in TCM Ophthalmology. She is one of only two certified practitioners in the UK who have completed his MicroAcupuncture48 course and is currently the ONLY Acupuncture Practitioner in Europe to have completed the Advanced Masters training in MA48. Why the Vision Acutherapy® Programme?

Based closely on Dr Rosenfarb’s teachings and methods, Alison now offers Vision Acutherapy® which is a complete Ophthalmology Acupuncture programme, designed just for you. Each programme is as unique as you are and is based on a full Chinese-Medicine-based evaluation and diagnosis. This goes far beyond simple protocols or points for any given condition and treats your whole body and mind, whilst focusing on approaches proven to benefit the eyes. Each Vision Acutherapy® Programme consists of a series of either 10 or 20 treatments is individualised to meet the unique needs of our patients and treats the whole person, not just their eye condition. We integrate the specific MicroAcupuncture48 and other Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM) eye protocols and points with a whole-person diagnosis.

We request patients to have had vision-testing completed no more than two-weeks prior to starting the programme and some functional in-house vision testing is also offered, including central acuity near and far, visual field, contrast and colour vision. After the first programme is completed, patients should have their vision retested and results compared. It is on this basis we can then make a longer-term treatment plan, based on your needs. All patients leave with a treatment plan, as well as advice on diet, lifestyle, supplements and exercises.

Why the Vision Acutherapy® Programme?

Available in North Devon for people throughout the UK (and beyond) For patients who are travelling to North Devon, ideally for their first block of treatments, we work together for 12 days (2 sessions per day for 10 days with a 2 day break in the middle). Future follow-up blocks can then be ten treatments in five days, but this is always bespoke and based on need. Each treatment can take up to 50 min to 1 hr and there is usually at least one hour break between each one.

For local patients, treatment is twice per week for five to ten weeks before assessment. Each treatment programme (a series of either 10 or 20 treatments) is individualised to meet the unique needs of our patients and treats the whole person, not just their eye condition.
